Crunk Feminist Collection (Part 1-Gender: Fuck the Patriarchy)

It is notable that Cooper, Morris, & Boylorn (2017) confront the several and different ways patriarchy as well as gender norms sideline women and girls. Patriarchy is something that existed since time immemorial and it is evident that it harms everyone. It is unfortunate that our formal education system does not each individuals on being gender neutral, gender nonconforming and gender fluid.
A patriarchal society only takes pride in masculinity as well as maleness. There is the twofold classification that underpins hegemonic and dominant harms that are related to the social construction of gender and harassment where masculinity is praised. The deliberately chauvinist as well as misogynist societal expectations confine people of different genders on how to think, act, dress and behave. Hence, gender is seen as a system that dictates the behavior of women and men as well as their roles and responsibilities.
Furthermore, there are limitations of gender depending on whether one is white or black. It is crucial to challenge the universality of the concerns and experiences of white women that dominate feminism in the current world. It is evident that feminism does not only include black female solidarity. This is due to the fact that only few feminists who are white show up to defend their black sisters. In a country that is crowned by racism, black women are usually characterized by independence, strength and resilience. However, when it comes to white women, they usually demand for more protection and provision since they believe that they do not hold the same qualities as black women. This is a racist gender categorization. In today’ society, referring to the concept of patriarchy, black women are considered to possess patriarchy. This is an abusive and a one-sided argument. Therefore, I believe that individuals, whether white women or black women, should be given the opportunities to be who they are, without reference to stereotypes.
In addition, a time is coming when the concept of gender will be all inclusive and non-hierarchal. Thus, feminism is a concept that fights for equal rights among women and girls, whether black or white, and resists the present patriarchy that devalues women. Patriarchy cannot be made to seem normal in any circumstances with its manifestations, such as the rape culture and violence.

Women are called upon to resist and refuse the traditional, irrational as well as patriarchal things that demean them. Looking at the most news headlines, even when men are the perpetrators of crime and women the victims, emphasis is usually placed on the women being the mistake. For instance, in the case of rape, women are usually blamed for dressing in a slut manner-which according to other people-attracts rape cases. When will this kind of patriarchy end? What is usually buried beneath those headlines are the black/white men who are the serial perpetrators of the crime. Still, the bible conforms to the patriarchal bullshit-That black women should be silent, submit and bow to slavery. This is something that white folks have always imagined on black women. Nonetheless, black women deserve more than that. Preachers cannot be let to toss the Bible to meet up their patriarchal expectations. It is time for the black women to stand up and fight for what they believe in!
